Porsche electric sports car re-introduces the new Taycan early-level model at a price below $80,000. The number listed is output in “overboost mode,” a high-speed output for cars. Power of 240 kW and 280 kW (326 and 380 PS) respectively.
Taycan comes with a basic model of Plug and Charge functionality built into other Taycan models, allowing to plug in and make charging and direct payments without the need for cards or applications at the charging location. The car creates an encrypted communication channel with the charging station and meets payment requirements without inconvenient drivers. Other standard features include partial leather, adjustable eight-way front seats, a 10.9-inch infotainment screen and two luggage compartment.
Porche Taycan cars have a battery capacity of 79.2 kWh as standard, and the battery option can be upgraded to 93.4 kWh. The battery’s gross capacity allows for a distance of 431 or 484 km (268 or 301 miles) per charge. Both batteries can charge from five to 80 percent in about 23 minutes on a DC fast charger – the driver can add a distance of 100 km (62 miles) in just five minute.
The battery on the Taycan runs to a synchronous motor that is permanently in the rear axle, making the car’s rear wheel drive. Inverters are also attached to the rear a a clyr, to be able to operate up to 600 amps. The two-speed transmission helps the motor’s thrust to the wheel. Energy consumption is further enhanced with taycan drag coefficient of only 0.22 and braking recovery up to 256 kW.
